The Cross

Where Freedom Lives

Dan River Emmaus Walk #106 — Look up, see the cross

At the center of the Walk to Emmaus — at the center of everything — stands the old rugged cross.

Not ornate. Not polished. Just a reminder that the God of the universe loved us enough to meet us at our lowest point and say: you are forgiven.

The men of the Table of Andrew came to that cross carrying years of weight. They left it there.

What happened at the cross is between each man and God. But the freedom that followed is something every brother carries with him to this day.

“He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”

— Isaiah 53:5

If you are considering walking the Walk to Emmaus, go. Don’t hesitate. What waits for you there is something that cannot be explained — only experienced.

The weight you carry does not have to leave with you.

“It is finished.”

— John 19:30
